Abstract

The ocupational therapy have been studying processes of exclusion of certain social groups epistemologicaly and have been utilizing the influence of diverse social movements to elaborate resistence/confrontation processes. However, processes that arise from the racism analytical category are neglected. In this context, through the textual essay genre, two events that occurred in the XXI century suggest an invitation for epistemological racial reading The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement and the uneven death distribution evidenced by the social marker of race in the pandemic scenario. The Black Movement (MN) (especially from the 1970s) in the Brazilian context and its contributions for building another historical interpretation of the black population and the relation with the african diaspora is utilized. The negligence and the invisibility of the MN allow us to reflect regarding the reasons behind the incomprehension and the maintenance of exclusion, extermination and processes of lethality. All of them conducted by the categories “oprehension” and “racism” which are essential for the understanding of these processes in an actual brazillian context. Finally, appeals and ways that can compose the field´s engagement for future situations are presented. The challenge of fighting for the implementation of public policies regarding equities and social justices for the black comunity are also highlighted.
