Research contributions in occupational therapy training: what think the occupational therapy students?

Abstract

This research objective was to relate and analyze through questionnaire the visions and perspectives of students of occupational therapy about the importance of scientific research for occupational therapist formation. Participated 261 students of 20 schools of occupational therapy. Against quantitative and qualitative analyze of data, it was verified that the results showed the visions of research mainly as strategy on knowledge production 46% (121), increase of practice actuation 23% (60), more recognized by science 25% (65) and population too with 21% (55). In relation about suggestions and perspectives, pertinent conceptions were identified as amplification of institutional incentives 17%(44) and more studentship to develop research 31% (81), necessity of student participation in teacher's research 25% (65) and more professional divulgation 28% (73). The data illustrated the research as an educative and scientific principle. The results illustrated significant visions and perspectives to contribute on development of scientific production and concomitant the professional formation.
